In this video, I walk you through creating a dedicated sending domain, adding and verifying your DNS records, and getting set up to send email.

Send email from your own domain so it lands in the inbox

Out of the box, your emails go out on a shared sending domain. Sending from your own domain keeps your emails out of spam and makes them look professional.

1. Open Email Services

Go to Settings, then Email Services. The SMTP Service tab shows your default email provider. Click Dedicated Domain And IP on the right.

2. Add your sending domain

Click + Add Domain. Enter a subdomain plus your domain in lowercase, such as mail.yourpractice.com. Use a subdomain, not your main website domain, so you can still send from [email protected]. Click Add & Verify.

3. Add the DNS records

The next screen shows the DNS records to add. Log in to wherever you bought your domain, such as GoDaddy, Namecheap or Cloudflare, and add each record exactly as shown. Then come back and verify. DNS changes can take a few hours to show up.

4. Warm up slowly

For the first 2 to 4 weeks, email your most engaged clients first, not a cold list. Inbox providers are learning your sending reputation, and good early results keep you out of spam.

5. Already send from Gmail or Outlook?

On the SMTP Service tab, click + Add Service to send through your own email provider instead. New: use the Email Analytics tab to see how your emails perform, and Postmaster Tools to check your reputation with Gmail.
