In this video, I walk you through adding a local or 800 number, picking the right one, and entering the business details carriers need before you can text.

Get a business number and get approved to text

Phone numbers are included with Revenue Manager Lite and Pro. Carriers require every business that texts to register first. Skip this step and your texts will be blocked.

1. Open Phone System

Go to Settings, then Phone System. The Phone numbers tab lists your numbers, whether each one is toll free or local, and a green A2P Verified label once it's approved to text. If you see "Your phone system requires configuration," open a ticket and we'll turn it on for you.

2. Buy your number

Click + Add Number. Filter by area code, pick a local or toll-free number and click to buy it. New: the first time you buy a US number, you'll be asked to verify your identity once, so have your ID handy.

3. Forward calls to your cell

Click the three-dot menu at the end of your number's row and edit its configuration. Enter the number calls should ring through to, such as your cell, and save. It shows in the Forwarding Number column.

4. Register to text in the Trust Center

Open the Trust Center tab. On the A2P Messaging (SMS) card, click Start Registration. New: the registration now walks you through four steps, Business Profile, Brand, Campaign and Consent, and shows everything on one review screen before you submit. Your Brand status and Campaign status show on the card, and Brand & Campaigns opens the details.

5. Pick your brand type

Choose Standard if you have an EIN. Your EIN should be at least 15 days old, and your legal business name must match your IRS letter exactly. Choose Sole Proprietor if you have no EIN. You'll need a real mobile number, not an internet phone number, and you can register one number.

6. Set up your campaign and submit

The easiest path is the chat widget setup. If you set it up manually, you'll need a privacy policy, terms of service and an opt-in page on your website. New: review your application before you submit and AI checks it for common mistakes. When you're approved, your number shows the green A2P Verified label.

Using a toll-free number? Toll-free numbers need their own verification. No EIN is needed, but approval takes about 4 to 6 weeks.
